Chapter 4
Some people think that digital photography will never
equal the quality of traditional film-based photography.
Well, here's twenty-two photographs that prove else
wise. These pictures were not taken by professional
photographers, but by hobbyists. In many cases they
are relative newcomers to photography. I was really
struck by the quality of the images when I came across
them at the Digital Photo Contest Web site (www.digitalphotocontest.com).
At this site anyone can submit digital photos for
display on the Web. At the end of each month, prizes
(such as a digital camera) are given for the very
best photos. Take a look for yourself and perhaps
you'll soon want to submit your own photos. Thanks
to the many photographers who granted permission to
have their work included in this chapter.
