What the photographer likes about the image: |
This is a photo of a metal covering over a planter
in the sidewalk. The late afternoon light reflecting off of it attracted
my attention. I liked the pattern. |
|
Techniques Used: |
Manually metered the scene by using spot metering
off the bright areas so they were about two stops overexposed, this
made sure the highlights were bright. |
|
Things to notice: |
Is it art or photography? This nearly abstract composition
brings to mind the etchings of M.C. Escher. Yet you don't have to
be a draftsman to create it. Careful work in an image editing program
makes the image work. Concentration on exposure and framing are
essential here. Note how black and white photos can be stunning. |
