Photo Title:

If Only They Could Speak

Photographer:

Ben Horne

Location of Photograph:

San Diego, California

What the photographer likes about the image:

The character that these boots hold. These were my father's boots and they were used to work on the backyard. This involved cement work, brick walls, a shed, and several other projects. I'm assuming that the toes are bent up because most of the work required kneeling for long periods of time.

Techniques Used:

Background was a curved piece of poster board. Used an external flash and reflector as the main light source and a second off-camera flash for fill lighting.

Things to notice:

"Every picture tells a story". In fact this seemingly simple picture resonates with meaning. Effective use of black and white and simple background gives an artistic look to this image.
