What the photographer likes about the image: 

 The contrast of textures and the subtle differences in colors. The shadow forms a signature of the curly tendril. It also reminds me of a person's signature. That gives the photo and its title somewhat of a double meaning.

Techniques Used:

 Macro focusing. Maximized depth of field. Darkened shadow to make it stand out.

Things to notice:  

 This photographer not only went close, she went extremely close. We see things we might never have noticed. She seems to make a statement from a very common scene.
